From Veterans Bar to Neighborhood Gem
Originally established as 'The Veterans Bar' in the early 1900s, our pub has welcomed everyday people, veterans, locals, visitors, family and friends for nearly a century. This historic establishment has been a cornerstone of Bay Shore's community spirit.
The Half Penny Era
In 1996, Al Lawrence purchased and renovated our beloved pub, reopening it as the Half Penny Pub. Under his stewardship, a traditional neighborhood Irish pub was born, creating the warm, welcoming atmosphere that defines us today.
The Modern Penny Pub
In 2015, new ownership acquired the pub from the Lawrence Family, adding a full kitchen and fresh improvements while preserving our original charm. Today, we're proud to serve delicious pub classics with creative twists, open 7 days a week until 3am or later.
